Selkirk Daycare Incorporated

Who we are
Selkirk Day Care Inc is a non-profit, government-funded, and licensed childcare centre.
We are licensed for 45 children between the age of 6 years and 12 years.  We also have a provision to provide care for a maximum of 15 children within the maximum number of 45 licensed spaces.

Our mission is to provide a service that meets the demand for high quality early childhood education to children in our community and surrounding areas.  We made every effort to promote and support the balance of the family unit under the changing needs of society, while still maintaining a financially viable organization. As a team of professionals, we strive to
implement a program that meets the needs of all the children we care for and helps them
to reach their full potential.

Our center is open from 7:00 am – 5:30 pm Monday to Friday with the exception of civic
and statutory holidays.

Our center is unique as it occupies a 1 ½ story home.  We are also fortunate to have a spacious
outdoor play area that includes a large play structure, a sandpit, a swing set, some boulders for
climbing, a large grassy field and a concrete bicycle path that winds through a shaded tree area.

Program
We believe in the development of the "whole child", physical, emotional, intellectual, and creative. We hope to achieve this through a developmental play approach. By this we mean that the child operates in a guided play situation where the environment is prepared to provide the child with maximum developmental opportunities.

Funding
Our center is primary funded through parent fees and grants provided by the Government of Manitoba.  We are also fortunate to be able to apply for additional grant opportunities through such organizations as The Selkirk & District Foundation.  As a non-profit organization we are also able to accept donations and issue receipts for income tax purposes.  If you are interested in making a donation please contact us.
